She laughed, at last through a diminishing cough
In bed, she read a lot of the classics
At half mast, she asked if the doctor had a fast fix

Slowly, oh slowly and line by line
A poorly written novel that just robs you of your time
She statued, she statued like molasses on the hill
I visited her in a bad mood and I'd bet she's there still


"I've died" she cried, "or just let it flatline"
Hands tied, I sighed "why must I lose all that's mine"
In discomfort, it all hurt, there was never enough
All told and in need of a needle, doctor said it'd be tough

how fast! O how fast counting ash by ash by ash
You were built to spill never built to last
and counting her rings when they cut her in half
They took her out with the trash.
She watered, she watered all evening 'til the dawn
Invisible pasts that can me measured graphed and drawn
She faltered, she faltered like molasses in a pill

She mattered, she mattered like the thoughts left in a dream
It was all remembered, forever. Glass and water on steam
